Utility Assessments
An important issue in medical decision making is how to measure
people's preferences for health states in a way that will facilitate
comparisons of health states. The most important measure of
preference is the "utility" of the health state to the individual
who will experience it, which is a value from 0
(representing death) to 1 (perfect health and well-being).
This page allows you to assess the utility for a health state using
three techniques: rating scale, standard gamble, and time tradeoff.
