Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley
Alias: Maria
Description
Medium build, about 5'4" tall, fair complexion, deep
chestnut brown hair (slightly curly), haunted brown eyes that flash hazel
and gold in sunlight, dainty but utilitarian hands (slender fingers with
short, neat unpolished nails), full lips that often look amorous and
passionate even when Maria's face is serene.
Biography
Born August 30, 1797 in London, England. Died
February 1, 1851 at the age of 54 (of natural causes, I suspect).
English Romantic novelist best known for _Frankenstein: The Modern Modern
Prometheus_. Wrote several other novels dealing with historical romances
and fantasy themes; also wrote a travel book recounting her tour through
Italy and a summer spent near Geneva with her husband. Was fascinated
with death, the figure of power hungry scientists, passion and sensuality
(though it gets repressed in her stories!). Was the only daughter of two
intellectuals: William Godwin and Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin. Languages:
English, some French and Italian. Free-thinking and prone to being
impetuous. Had a passionate, highly charged relationship with her
husband, poet Percy Bysshe Shelley--with whom she eloped despite the
outrage of both their parents; mourned his death even in her fantasy
stories. Took charge of their only surviving child, Percy. (Did they run
out of names, or what?!)
Skills
powers of observation, philosophical
analysis, storytelling (ok, that's debatable!), editing, finding out old
or lost information, reading, communication, promotion/publicity;
probably very persuasive in bed. :)
